Help : Desktop Application : Working with Files and Folders
Working with Files and Folders
Working with files and folders is similar to what you do on the PrintSphere website. See “Working with Folders and Files”.
In general you have more options in terms of syncing because the local PrintSphere folders are integrated in your file manager and behave just like other folders on your computer. However, some limitations apply in particular with regard to sharing. The following is a list of how working with files and folders is different with the desktop application.
You can add data to your PrintSphere space by dragging files and folders to the local PrintSphere folder. The data is synced immediately to your PrintSphere space.
CAUTION: Remember that dragging files or folders to the PrintSphere folder moves the data to this local folder – without copying it. If you delete this data in this local folder while the folder is still synced, you will no longer have the data.
You can share files and folders by context-clicking the item in your file manager and choosing Share with PrintSphere.
It’s not possible to see whether items are shared.
Share from local PrintSphere folders
You can share files and folders which are in your local PrintSphere folders, and consequently also in your PrintSphere space, by simply browsing to the local PrintSphere folder.
1 The easiest way to open your PrintSphere folder is by context-clicking the PrintSphere icon in the System Tray and choosing the folder in the menu; if you added sync folders, you will see more than one folder in the menu.
OR
Browse to the local PrintSphere folder in your file manager.
The top PrintSphere folders and the items within each folder have an icon indicating their sync status.
2 Context-click the item in the PrintSphere folder and choose Share with PrintSphere.
The dialog is similar to the share dialog on the PrintSphere website, however, you can only share with a public link; you cannot select other Manual PrintSphere users or groups. See “Sharing Files and Folders”.
Syncing Status Indicators
The desktop application syncs in the background while you work. You will see syncing status icons that change in the application, in the System Tray and on the folders and files in your local PrintSphere folder.

The last syncing with the PrintSphere server was successful and syncing is up-to-date
